Job Summary:

The Application Scientist develops applications and assays using Agilent's cell analysis instrumentation and crafts marketing collateral for the Marketing Sales Group. The position also involves providing scientific and technological expertise to Agilent's customers in the form of pre- and post-sales support, as well as functional support to its executive M S, R D, and Service Departments.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build application notes, poster presentations, sales tools and other marketing collateral, demonstrating the efficacy of Agilent's cell analysis instrumentation and software-particularly Agilent's line of automated multimode detectors and imagers-in end-user applications.

Mentor Application Scientists in both experimental design and development of marketing collateral.
Provide ad hoc customer support (i.e., secondary support for TAC) for Agilent's laboratory products.
Provide scientific and applications assistance to M S and R D functions.
Provide applications-related training to Agilent's sales representatives at the annual sales meeting, as well as M S and TAC staff members through appropriate seminars and workshops.
Attend trade shows and deliver vital technical presentations related to Agilent's cell analysis products.
Maintain assay test documentation, including customer specifications, configuration control documents, laboratory notebooks, assay evaluation plans, and results.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Ph.D. in Cell or Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or similar field, preferred; MSc or BSc with at least 10 years' experience in research laboratories will be considered.

Extensive experience in a research laboratory and familiarization with most laboratory methods and instrumentation, particularly imaging-based applications - Agilent instrumentation desired.
Proven ability to publish scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals.

Skills/Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills. Ability to convey Agilent's product solution vision and market strategy to internal and external partners and customers.

Confident, driven, self-motivated and enthusiastic leader with an outgoing personality and ability to mentor junior scientists.
Broad familiarity with laboratory techniques used in molecular biology, cell biology, genomics, proteomics and the life sciences.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools.
Ability to travel up to 20% of the time (domestic and international).
