As an intern for the antibody discovery and engineering team, you'll work closely with scientists in both Research and Development to advance Alector programs forward. You will help contribute to a variety of programs across our portfolio. You will have an opportunity to apply your existing technical skills, learn new skills in a fast-paced environment where the focus is on solving critical issues in neurodegeneration and oncology. We are committed to providing a strong learning environment and providing opportunities for skilled students. Successful interns may have a path towards full-time employment upon completion of training.

During the internship, you will:
    • Learn valuable technical and communication skills while gaining experience in a research-focused company
    • Contribute to antibody discovery efforts to generate novel therapeutic leads, with specific tasks tailored for your individual skills and interests
    • Perform E. Coli, yeast transformation, molecular cloning and sequence analysis
    • Characterize antibody candidates using methods such as ELISA, FACS
    • Microsoft Excel data processing and optimization
    • Present your work and receive feedback from industry guides


    Requirements:
      • We'd love to hear from you if:
      • You are currently enrolled in an under or post-graduate program in biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, molecular biology, or a related scientific field
      • You have basic lab experience or familiarity with research lab environment
      • You have hands-on experience with aseptic cell culture techniques and/or bacterial cell culture for DNA production
      • You have knowledge and experiences of biology related software coding
      • You have the ability to work in a self-directed manner with minimal oversight in the lab to meet goals under project timelines
      • You are able to work hard and have a strong desire to learn from industry professionals
      • You take pride in being a self-motivated person, fast learner, excellent teammate, and creative problem solver
      • You have a point of view but are low ego
