The role reports to the Business Health, Safety & Environmental Manager and is located in Mebane, North Carolina.

Your responsibilities

  • Follow and actively participate in all HSE practices and procedures for the Mebane Plant
  • Execute and/or maintain up to date the ABRA's (activity bases risk assessments) and recommend corrective actions
  • Assist on all industrial hygiene monitoring and training
  • Follow up on corrective actions from ABRA's evaluations
  • Follow up on site regulatory inspection program, such as forklift, eyewash stations, emergency lights, fire extinguishers, cranes
  • Maintain HSE regulatory documents up to date
  • Manage PPE for visitors and employees
  • Assist on site HSE training matrix for employees, new hires visitors and contractors
  • Coordinate with maintenance janitorial services
  • Lead internal safety team
  • Support ABB Mebane Emergency Response Team (MERT)
  • Assist HSE with site documentation and programs
  • Maintain al Safety Data Sheets (SDS) up to date
  • Follow up with Health, Safety Environmental (HSE) regulatory agencies to ensure compliance
  • Complete safety walks and hazard hunts with support of supervisors
  • Implement spill prevention program
  • Follow up on machine guarding assessments
  • Complete HSE required inspections, follow up on hazards from inspections, support employees on hazard reporting program and follow up
  • Track leading and lagging indicators
  • Support site on SOT reporting program
  • Support site with HSE incident investigation program
  • Support site efforts on waste minimization program


Your background

  • Bachelors on science or related to HSE
  • Previous experience in HSE field
  • Previous manufacturing experience
  • Microsoft office and computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Office 97-2010)
  • HSE regulatory and standards Experience
  • Forklift training or willing to take on new skills
  • Good leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to provide and follow instructions accordingly
  • Available to work OT if required
  • Good knowledge with HSE, HR & Quality policies and best practices
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
