Sr. Environmental Lab Technician Summary/Objective:
The lead lab technician performs higher level lab activities including determination of schedules and assignments, adjustments and modifications of work activities, the creation of efficiencies to streamline processes and produce greater revenue. While the lead technician may be responsible for direct reports, they will have responsibility to follow up with technicians, deliver feedback and assist with the development of the team. Seen as a leader on the team, the lead lab technician will support the training and development of the technician. As a working leader, the lead lab technician will own and operate a portion of the lab business while working as a technician.
Actively maintain contact and relationships with customers and work with Division Director and Sales & Business Development staff to grow the testing business. Provide guidance, direction and development opportunities that will allow the skill and talents of the laboratory staff to be identified and groomed. The test lab performs various types of testing including Environmental Chamber testing, Electrical/Transient testing, Materials, Corrosion, Weatherometer/UV/Colorfastness.
Sr. Environmental Lab Technician Essential Functions:
Complex test preparation and setup
Assembles fixtures, load chambers for testing, compiles test data for internal and customer test reports, and maintains test lab equipment operation and calibration.
Performs measurements for tests (materials, corrosion etc.) and maintains the lab.
Additionally, the test lab technician may deliver parts to other departments for testing and relocates test lab equipment.
Strong customer service, communication, scheduling and prioritization.
Instrumenting test devices/chambers per the customers' request
Independent tester/able to follow verbal and written procedural instructions
Able to write testing reports for review as well as review others, read and interpret test data
Able to understand and communicate timelines to team and customers
Sr. Environmental Lab Technician Qualifications/Skills:
Working knowledge of complex mechanical and/or electrical concepts, and the ability to read engineering drawings is a plus.
Comfortable using hand tools
Good computer skills, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams
Strong people skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
Willingness to travel to other Trialon Sites or customer locations.
Education and Experience Requirements:
The position requires a one-year certificate from a college/technical school.
Current experience in a testing lab; 3-5+ years.
Knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical concepts.
Experience with automotive electronics a plus.
Capable of working 1st shift 8am-4:30pm-Monday-Friday, 40/hrs.-45/hrs. per week
