Position: Scientist to support natural resource damage assessment, oil spill assessment, environmental impact analyses, remedial investigations, applied natural resource management.

Responsibilities: IEc Science Associates gather and evaluate data, design and implement quantitative analyses using a variety of scientific methods, conduct GIS spatial analyses, utilize statistics, interpret and communicate results, write reports, and present findings. Science Associates often work on site-specific cases, assisting clients with natural resource assessments, impact analyses, field and literature-based research, and restoration/monitoring planning, including recommending modifications to approaches or methodologies to achieve project objectives.

Consulting work at IEc requires attention to detail, along with strong communication, organization, analytic, and problem-solving skills. Our consultants also need the ability to work independently, plan project schedules, and meet deadlines. Science associates typically work in project teams, managing the efforts of Research Analysts and other support staff while coordinating with experts in other disciplines such as economics and policy. Associates must have academic experience in a discipline relevant to IEc's work including, but not limited to, biology (e.g., marine, wildlife), ecology, toxicology, geology, chemistry, or related field as well as experience implementing quantitative analytic methods applicable to their field of study.

IEc welcomes both entry-level and more experienced candidates with at least five years of work experience in a field relevant to IEc's work. In addition to project management experience, more experienced candidates need project demonstrated experience or expertise in at least one of the following areas: database development and management, quality assurance/quality control (e.g., developing quality assurance project plans), field-based ecological study design and/or implementation, or natural resource damage assessment implementation or planning.

Required Qualifications: A Master's degree or PhD (or international equivalent) in biology (e.g., marine, wildlife), ecology, toxicology, geology, chemistry, or related field.
