Job Title: Scientist III, Cell Biology
Location:Carlsbad, CA 92008
Duration: 12 months contract (With possible extension)
How will you make an impact?
Contribute to the creation of the therapies of tomorrow. Our team is looking for an enthusiastic and talented scientist to join our in vivo RNA delivery program. This scientist will participate in development of Client lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulations that can allow our customers to develop RNA-based therapeutics. The successful candidate will have a strong background in formulation, and will have a molecular biology experience. The scientist will be a part of a highly collaborative team environment and will work in close interaction with our internal partners around the globe. This position requires excellent communication and presentation skills, strong work ethic, independence and enthusiasm.
What will you do?
• Design and execute studies to synthesize and optimize LNP formulations for nucleic acid delivery for progression to the LNP candidate selection stage.
• Screen lipids/lipid libraries to identify lead LNP candidates.
• Manage external collaborations and outsourced work as needed.
• Presenting data and reports on project status at individual and group meetings.
• Working in close interaction with internal partners in cell biology and chemistry departments to ensure smooth flow of information and data
• Executing the plans according to agreed timelines.
How will you get here?
Required Education/Experience
• PhD degree in a synthetic organic, medicinal chemistry, physical chemistry or related scientific field is required.
• Prior experience with lipid-peptide and/or lipid-antibody conjugates and/or LNP-based nucleic acid delivery systems.
• Strong track record of scientific contributions including peer reviewed first-author publications, patent applications, and/or presentations at major national meetings is preferred
• Ability to be a team player, multitask and work on multiple projects at once, and excel in a collaborative work environment.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
Preferred qualifications
• Prior industry or postdoctoral experience with LNP formulation technologies.
• Background and experience in extra-hepatic RNA delivery is preferred.
• Experience in lab-scale preparation of LNPs using microfluidics in preferred.
• Proficient skills in analytical characterization of LNPs.
• Prior experience in immune cell cultures and transfection technologies is preferred.
• Prior experience with advanced analytical software (JMP) is desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
• Strong proven communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work in collaborative environment and to be an effective team member
• Ability to independently troubleshoot
• Maintain detailed records of experiments
