Job Description

Vertex is seeking an experienced Environmental Project Manager to manage a variety of projects in the Midwest.

Core Responsibilities

Managing multi-faceted environmental projects that include planning, assessment, remediation, and monitoring of impaired properties

Provide oversight, training, and mentoring to junior staff

Actively pursue business development opportunities as they relate to new opportunities, follow-up work with clients, or cross-selling services

Prepare, review, and/or submit final reports in accordance with internal Quality Control procedures and applicable regulations

Conduct Property Condition Assessments

Provide technical support as needed

Skills & Abilities

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Ability to successfully execute and prioritize multiple complex tasks simultaneously under various conditions

MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

Ability to walk job sites during inspections, sometimes on uneven terrain

Qualifications

BS in Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related environmental field (Masters a plus)

8+ years of professional experience in environmental assessment and remediation projects, including ASTM Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and Phase II Limited subsurface investigations for due diligence investigations, contaminated site characterization investigations (soil, groundwater, soil vapor, indoor air), and implementation of remediation programs

Experience with strategic soils management and remediation as part of site redevelopment and building construction preferred

Prior experience conducting Property Condition Assessments preferred

Health & Safety Certification pursuant to OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 (HAZWOPER 40 Hour)

OSHA-10 or -30 certification required, training provided if necessary
