Overview
RES is looking for an Ecologist I with up to one (1) year of relevant work experience based out of Dania Beach, FL office.
The mission: to conduct environmental impact reviews (EIRs) for Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) design projects (roadway and bridge plans), working in-house at the FDOT, and assessing potential environmental impacts of the proposed improvements.
What your day-to-day might look like?
Three days a week you will be working in the FDOT office as an extension of their staff. You will be conducting environmental desktop reviews using GIS tools and creating maps in ArcMap so technical GIS savvyness is required! The objective is to identify potential environmental conflicts and to communicate them to the design staff. The other two days of the week will be spent either in the field (expect some overnight travel), or in our Dania Beach office.
You will be also evaluating avoidance and minimization measures for areas of potential impact, compiling the environmental documentation for the project, reviewing the project at the end of design for an issuance of an environmental certification. Be ready to showcase your technical writing skills during the interview!
The rest of the time you might be working on wetland delineations, wildlife surveys, writing natural resources reports, and permitting assistance.
Qualifications
We would love to talk to you if you have many of the following:
What will make you stand out?
