The role:

Come join our team as a wetland scientist! In this role, you will provide expertise on freshwater and estuarine wetlands. You will help to analyze, document and minimize impacts on wetlands, monitor constructed wetland mitigation and document agency compliance with laws and regulations. A day in the life:

Evaluate projects for compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations.

Interpret rules and regulations and recommend procedures for compliance.

Perform timely monitoring and reporting of wetland mitigation projects.

Develop research methods, scope, content, schedules and processes for identification of wetlands and assess the impacts on wetlands and related biological systems.

Conduct research using field measurements, surveys, delineation protocol, interviews, documents and experts.

Assess wetland functional values using complex methodologies such as the Oregon rapid wetland assessment protocol, hydro geomorphic approach and stream function assessment method.

Serve as a consultant to other staff, provide expert opinions and train on wetland resources.

Manage consultant activities.

Serve as a liaison with regulatory and natural resource agencies.

Review and comment on regulations and guidance proposed by regulatory and resource agencies.

At least 50% of working hours will be spent outdoors in the field or traveling to attend meetings and may require working in inclement weather, on rough terrain, around traffic and around construction equipment.

What we need:

A bachelor's degree in an environmental science, a physical science, a natural science, engineering, or a closely-related field AND two (2) years of environmental analysis or resource project management experience.

Three additional years of environmental analysis or resource project management experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree.

Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
