Job Title:Wetland Ecologist
Division:Environmental
LJA Environmental is interviewing for a full-time Wetland Ecologist to support and manage various field and office-based assignments throughout Corpus Christi and surrounding areas. The qualified candidate will have experience conducting wetland delineations according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps)1987 Wetland Delineation Manualand habitat functional assessments as well as an overall knowledge of the Clean Water Act permitting process. The candidate must be enthusiastic, energetic, team-oriented, able to multi-task and have technical wetland, aquatic, and/or marine ecological skills. The candidate must also have excellent field skills, preferably with plant and soil identification abilities, as well as excellent oral communication and computer skills, preferably with ArcView. The following are the minimum qualifications and a brief description of duties and responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience conducting wetland delineations according to the Corps1987 Wetland Delineation Manualand Regional Supplements (Experience drafting & coordinating Nationwide and Individual Permit applications with the Corps is preferred).
The applicant will possess technical knowledge of plant identification, soils, and hydrology and how they relate to understanding wetland functions.
The applicant will employ an understanding of the functional roles of wetlands and aquatic resources to assess potential project impacts and mitigation solutions.
The desired applicant will have knowledge of Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and how it relates to wetland permitting and other environmental regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare wetland delineation reports and functional assessment reports for regulatory agency review.
Assist in preparing other environmental regulatory compliance documents such as Biological Assessments, Water Quality Plans, and conduct monitoring and maintenance of wetland mitigation sites and wetland banks.
Prepare wetland permit applications and compensatory wetland mitigation plans for submittal to Corps.

- BS Degree (MS Degree and/or 2+ years of pertinent experience is preferred) in wetland science, aquatic biology, environmental science, marine biology, soil science, rangeland ecology, botany, or related field.
