This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Grants Development and Management Lead Consultant. This position could work out of WSP's office in Washington DC or any other WSP office nationwide.

WSPs Grants Development and Management group supports our clients in planning, preparing, winning, and managing competitive grant funding from federal, state, and local sources. We offer clients the technical and strategic experience to select the most competitive projects for funding and develop compelling grant applications. In particular, we are looking for candidates to help our clients achieve the revolution in the production, transmission and usage of renewable energy that is needed to combat and mitigate climate change, supporting grant applications at state and federal level across the country.

Your Impact
  • Develop grants and design funding strategy for public infrastructure projects, on behalf of clients, and in collaboration with the Advisory team and other WSP practice groups;
  • Lead business development activities in pursuit of grant support consultant contracts;
  • Lead client engagement and foster client relationships; current with trends, opportunities, etc.
  • Manage and mentor a strong team of junior grant professionals
  • Support clients in sectors such as energy, environment, transportation and/or resilience with grant management, including compliance and reporting requirements
  • Serve as Project Manager for grant assistance contracts; manage scope, schedule, and budget
  • Demonstrate general knowledge of federal policy and grant guidelines from DOE, EPA, DOT
  • Provide grant writing and funding strategy support for infrastructure projects
  • Actively contribute to client relationships (both internally and externally)
  • Support the professional growth of our junior consultants within the Grants Development and Management group
  • Remain current in the latest management consulting and advisory services techniques and practices.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSPs Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • 7 to 9 years of professional experience, preferably with diversity in practice internal and external client service
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Data Sciences, Business, Economics, Finance, Urban or Transportation Planning, Environmental Studies, Liberal Arts, Public Policy, Operations Research, or closely related discipline.
  • Refined analytical, communication, and team-building skills
  • Past project management experience, including projects, schedule, staffing, and budget
  • Proven people management experience, leading diverse teams
  • Ability to work well with multiple deadlines and flexibility to adapt to unanticipated client requests for grant development support
  • Grant writing experience for federal programs
  • Nimble at adapting to change
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSPs Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSPs health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters Degree is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Department of Energy, Environmental Protection Agency and US Department of Transportation competitive grant programs, including post-grant management requirements
  • Federal grants management experience
  • Familiarity with state discretionary grant programs (California, Florida, New York, etc.)
  • Masters Degree in a relevant field (Urban Planning, Public Affairs, Transportation etc.)
  • Active membership of relevant professional organizations
  • Participation on conference program with panels, poster sessions, papers and presentations

Compensation and Benefits:

WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and retirement savings focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employees career.

Expected Salary: $94,900- $150,000.

WSP USA is providing the compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position based on the successful applicants education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicants sex or other status protected by local, state, or federal law.
