HELIX offers environmental, biological, landscape architecture, regulatory permitting, cultural resources, acoustical, air quality, habitat restoration, and GIS services to both the public and private sectors. Our Regulatory Division prepares environmental permitting documentation and supporting technical studies for a wide range of projects including highways, rail, airports, energy/utilities and water/wastewater facilities, planned communities, commercial/industrial development, educational facilities, agricultural and mining operations and military facilities.

Why work for HELIX? We prioritize our employees. We have been an employee-owned firm since 2004, providing employees a vested interest in the firm's success through our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). Our employees describe us as team-oriented, caring, flexible, and driven by our standards of integrity. In addition to our competitive benefit package, we also have robust, award-winning wellness, professional growth, employee development training and community volunteer programs, and we support a hybrid work environment that balances the ability to work in the office and from home, when needed.

HELIX offers a competitive benefits package, that includes:
  • Health Coverage (Medical, Dental, Vision)
  • Life Insurance
  • Personal Time Off
  • Bonus Program
  • ESOP participation
  • 401K participation

The Senior Regulatory Permitting Specialist responsibilities will include: preparation, processing and managing of Federal Clean Water Act, Porter-Cologne Water Quality Control Act, and California Fish and Game Code permit applications; leading federal Endangered Species Act consultations; facilitating Section 106 consultations; representing clients in meetings and phone calls with regulatory agencies; developing and negotiating mitigation strategies; tracking schedules and budgets; interfacing with biologists, archaeologists, GIS specialists and other environmental technical experts regarding supporting technical studies and permit processing; and managing project contracts. The position will also require business development, preparation of proposals and budgets, and related marketing support, and management of multidisciplinary teams, including internal staff and subconsultants. Production of high-quality work products and the provision of excellent client service are mandatory.

Candidates must have the ability to simultaneously manage permit processes for multiple projects, collaborate with team members, and be able to complete projects on schedule and within budget. Candidates must have strong positive client and agency relationships, and must possess the technical expertise, enthusiasm, and persistence to effectively manage environmental permitting processes.

Please submit a cover letter in addition to your resume.
