Location:Based out of Klamath Falls, John Day and Lakeview, Oregon.

Klamath Falls: June 1, 2022 August 24, 2022 (one position)

John Day: June 27, 2022 September 29, 2022 (two positions)

Lakeview: July 5, 2022 September 29, 2022 (two positions)

Job Description: What you will do: Assist with implementing applied research and monitoring aimed at conservation of native inland fishes in the state of Oregon. Collect information on ecology, composition, distribution, abundance, and other aspects of the biology of fishes. The two positions in John Day will assist with documenting distribution, occupancy, and relative abundance of Westslope Cutthroat Trout, Bull Trout, Brook Trout, and their hybrids, and other fishes in the John Day River drainage and other nearby drainages. The seasonal position in Klamath Falls will assist with documenting distribution, occupancy, and relative abundance of Brook Trout and other fishes in the South Fork Sprague River drainage; lethally sampling Brook Trout will be a major duty associated with the position based out of Klamath Falls. The positions in Lakeview will assist with conducting surveys for Warner Sucker and other species in the Warner basin. These positions require a flexible work schedule that varies in the number of hours worked on a daily basis, but not necessarily each day, or a work schedule in which the starting and stopping times vary on a daily basis, but not necessarily each day including some weekend work. These positions may be physically demanding.

Requirements/Requested Skills: Minimum qualifications are not established for these positions; however we are seeking applicants with the following related skills and experience (e.g. field work in remote wilderness areas, electrofishing surveys, identifying fish species (especially salmonids), collecting and accurately recording field data, and ability to euthanize fish) and who possess or are in pursuit of a Fisheries or Wildlife Science degree or related degree in biological/ecological sciences. Preference for interviews will be given to candidates with this background.
