Be part of a dynamic team that is using nanotechnology to enable routine, accurate, cost-effective analysis of genomic structural variation, in support of our mission of elucidating the genetic underpinnings of disease, increasing diagnostic yield, and ultimately improving patient outcomes. Nabsys is the pioneer in high-definition electronic genome mapping. Headquartered in Providence, RI, Nabsys uses proprietary electronic nanodetectors to analyze long DNA molecules traveling at high velocity. Our first-generation instrument and consumables have been shipping to customers for a year. We are currently scaling proven technology to substantially reduce cost and time-to-answer, on our way to making genomic structural information available to every laboratory.

Position: Molecular Biologist

Nature of Role: This position is a key role. As a member of the research team, this PhD level scientist will support efforts to further develop our mapping platform. The successful candidate will be responsible for acquiring in-depth knowledge and expertise in the relevant biochemical techniques.

Responsibilities:

  • Modify and develop biochemical assays to increase platform performance in collaboration with software and hardware teams
  • Aid in developing applications of the technology in genomes
  • Independently design experiments
  • Optimize sample preparation protocols and generate standardized procedures for the Nabsys platform
  • Analyze data, interpret results, and summarize conclusions in oral and written reports
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team with a highly motivated and independent manner
  • Contribute to strategic discussions aimed at advancing the Nabsys platform


Requirements:

  • PhD in Biology, Biochemistry or related field
  • Extensive experience with standard molecular biology techniques
  • Demonstrated independence in experimental design and execution is required
  • Prior experience with genomic DNA isolation and characterization is desired
  • Excellent record keeping and data management skills
  • Creative, self-motivated with a desire to learn new concepts in a fast paced environment
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and ability to thrive in an interdisciplinary team
  • Experience in technology development, microfluidics, or genomics related technologies is a plus
