TITLE: Director of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS)

DEPARTMENT: EHS

REPORTS TO: CEO

FLSA: Exempt

The Director Environmental Health and Safety will be responsible for overseeing all EHS functions and department for all Mayco Manufacturing locations. Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal EHS regulations. Will also have the responsibility of implementing procedures, enforcing compliance and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization.

Basic Qualifications

• BS/BA in Safety, Environmental, Engineering, or a related field required.
  • Relevant certifications, a plus: (e.g. CHMM, CSP, CIH, or PE Certification).
  • 5-7 years minimum of related experience, preferably in foundry or metal industry.
  • Written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with management and regulatory agency personnel.
  • Develop and implement department goals and strategies based on broader organization goals.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience within a foundry / metals environment
  • Maintains a thorough familiarity with Federal, State and Local regulations as they pertain to: Air programs, Hazardous waste management, Hazardous material management, EPCRA, TSCA, Wastewater, Stormwater, OSHA general industry, and DOT requirements.
  • Experience implementing critical safe work programs and practices (LOTO, machine guarding, confined space entry, work at heights, electrical work, etc.)
  • Identifies and resolves regulatory compliance issues.
  • Identifies and assists in root cause analysis and the formulation and implementation of corrective action to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Recommends corrective or preventative measures where indicated and assists in the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Assists in the training of managers and other employees on new regulations, and other required training.
  • Participates in the investigation of incidents and accidents and cooperates in the preparation of materials and evidence or reports for company's use in hearings, and insurance investigations.
  • Leads in the compilation and submission of reports, surveys and audits required by regulatory agencies, vendors and customers.
  • Devises, supervises, and coordinates training programs or media which will increase proficiency in EHS regulatory compliance.
  • Represents the organization in select community and/or industry groups and programs (e.g. LEPC, other).
  • Leads the effort to standardize and maintain regulatory compliance files and records to facilitate compliance.
  • Assesses current and proposed processes &, products for regulatory compliance.


  • Requirements:
  • Ability to climb stairs and/or ladders
  • Ability to stand and walk 8-10 hours per day
  • Ability to wear PPE, including, but not limited to, respirator, hard hat, safety glasses and uniform.
  • Capable of lifting heavy objects up to 50 pounds
  • Must be available "on Call", as needed
  • Significant (up to 50%) travel may be required
