Job Summary

The Z. Levine Laboratory is excited to be recruiting an experienced molecular biologist or biochemist to work at the interface of cellular health and resiliency in the context of ssDNA aptamers.

What Will You Contribute to Altos

The successful candidate will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of biophysicists, chemists, and biologists to integrate knowledge across a wide range of experiments and investigate cellular aging, senescence, and reprogramming. This key role will work with the PI to design and synthesize nucleic acid aptamers that bind protein or cellular targets via selective evolution (SELEX).

Who You Are

The candidate should have experience with gel electrophoresis, PCR, RT-PCR, qPCR, and broad knowledge of genetic sequencing. Expertise with multiple SELEX techniques (e.g. cell-SELEX, protein-SELEX, FluMag-SELEX) is preferred, in addition to molecular separation and fluorophore conjugation strategies.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience (or interest) in combining biological data with biophysical measurements (e.g. binding affinities). Similarly, candidates with partial expertise in these techniques who express a compelling interest to learn are also encouraged to apply.

Candidates should hold a PhD in the Biological Sciences or related fields and must demonstrate a strong track record of conspicuous scholarship, mentorship, and scientific publications.

To Apply, please include:

  • A Current CV or Resume
  • A Representative Publication
  • A One Page Summary of Past Research Projects
  • A List of Three Letter Writers (Names and Email Addresses) to Endorse the Candidate

Altos currently requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, subject to legally required exemptions (e.g., due to a medical condition or sincerely-held religious belief).

Thank you for your interest in Altos Labs where we strive for a culture of Scientific Freedom, Learning and Belonging.
