Visiting Instructor of Biology & Environmental Science
Description


The University of Mount Union Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences seeks two 10-month, full-time or part-time visiting appointments for AY 22-23 to begin August 1, 2022. These faculty members will teach multiple courses (with laboratories) in Environmental Science and/or Biology. Positions are one-year appointments with the potential for renewal for an additional year.

The Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences is in the College of Natural and Health Sciences, and has eight faculty members and a laboratory manager. Approximately 100 majors take a variety of coursework, supported by well-equipped teaching and research labs, as well as our nearby 285-acre Huston-Brumbaugh Nature Center. High-impact, experiential learning is a hallmark of the student experience, providing students an edge when seeking employment or graduate study.

Responsibilities

Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate education in a liberal arts setting. Primary responsibilities include teaching introductory and upper-level environmental science and biology courses with lectures and laboratories for roughly 16 contact hours per semester. Courses may include but are not limited to: Unity of Life, Diversity of Life, Conservation Biology, Introduction to Environmental Science, Entomology, Ecology, Anatomy & Physiology, Vertebrate Zoology, and Sustainability. Course development/refinement and lab prep are expected.

Qualifications

M.S. required, Ph.D. or ABD in Biological or Environmental Sciences preferred.
