A. General Job Duties:

  • Performs the duties of the Safety & Environmental Specialist in its entirety with minimal supervision.
  • Develop Health & Safety policies that satisfy federal and state compliance regulations.
  • Develop and implement (or monitor implementation) appropriate safety training programs.
  • Provide leadership to and/or facilitate meetings with various committees concerning health & safety initiatives.
  • Act as Corporate liaison with all regulatory agencies including OSHA, EPA, and applicable state regulatory agencies.
  • Develop, implement and complete improvement plans to support initiatives to reach top performance in safety and environmental fields.
  • Lead accident/incident investigations, EH&S audits, regulatory inspections, and other components of the Environmental, Health and Safety System.
  • Conduct incident investigations.
  • Maintain health and safety data/statistics and develop/generate reports to benchmark/measure safety efforts.
  • Manage the plant workers compensation program.


  • B. Specific Job Duties:
  • Ensure all required OSHA safety training meets OSHA standards and is completed in the required time frame.
  • Maintain documentation for all regulatory initiatives; including, but not limited to, training, policies, schedules, revisions, investigations, etc.
  • Evaluate all new and pending Federal and appropriate state regulations to determine their applicability to the Company's operations.
  • Routinely, or on as needed basis, audit divisional safety policies and programs and provide direction towards achieving compliance as per the Corporate standard.
  • Work with all divisions towards achieving total compliance and maintain open communication concerning compliance questions.
  • Oversee the Workers' Compensation program and coordinate efforts with the designated human resource representative to: maintain appropriate documentation, coordinate medical services for injured workers, conduct incident investigations, monitor status of claims, coordinate return-to-work initiatives.
  • Working with the Danboro facilities group, is responsible for the security of the Danboro location. Audits and supports other locations in the security of their buildings.


  • C. Other Duties as required:

  • Communicate, either written or verbally, safety initiatives, milestones, events, etc. to the Corporation.
  • Continually search/investigate new methods of reducing accidents/injuries throughout the Corporation.
  • Serves as the Human Resource Department contact for the Kronos system.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and required.


  • D. Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Human Resources or other applicable field; or extensive experience in the regulatory field.
  • Ability to interpret regulations and communicate to groups of people of must.
  • 3-5 years of experience working in a EH&S capacity, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations at the federal, state and local levels.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills along with the ability to interact and relate with individuals at all levels of the Company.
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite including proficiency with Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, and MS Outlook.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision


  • F. Physical Requirements:
  • Visual acuity.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in air conditioned or unair conditioned manufacturing environment for a minimum of 8 hours.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to travel as required
