POSITION SUMMARY

Develops and implements policies or programs meant to promote employee health and safety or environmental compliance under the direction of the HSE Manager. Position will be located in Coldwater, MI with primary duties being to support this location but position will also have some shared responsibilities that support our Euclid, Ohio location.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Act as a resource for the sharing of environmental regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Responsible for maintaining all environmental permits and responding to external environmental inquiries. Environment duties will include but are not limited to:
  • Radiation Safety Officer for Euclid
  • Air permit filings including all required documentation
  • Daily water sampling and required documentation/tracking
  • Storm water inspections and documentation as required including SPCC and SWPPP documentation and Tier II filing
  • Monthly NPDES reporting to proper state authorities
  • Develops and delivers training programs educating staff on environmental concerns or health and safety risks found in the organization.
  • Ensures that training records, health/safety manuals or handbooks, incident/accident reports, or other documentation are appropriately maintained.
  • Will support HSE Manager on health and safety management as required
  • Purchases and distributes personal protection equipment or other related supplies. Monitors known health, safety, or environmental hazards, such as noise, air, or wastewater pollution levels.
  • Coordinates inspection of facilities, vehicles, or equipment.
  • May develop and communicate facility-specific emergency response or evacuation plans
  • Will be responsible for maintaining requirements as related to ISO 14001, including training of staff.


QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
  • Degree in Environmental, Health and Safety is desired/or another related field or certification is preferred or equivalent years of related experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including honesty and integrity a required skill
  • Must have strong organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities throughout the day
  • Ability to learn and embrace specific order management procedures and to follow policies and procedures related to Workers Compensation along with the required OSHA guidelines
  • Proficient report writing, documentation and record keeping
  • Must be comfortable speaking in front of large or small groups
  • Assist with coordination of safety and training programs for all employees within the business unit.
