Lightning eMotors designs and manufactures zero-emission all-electric medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, including delivery trucks, shuttle buses, passenger vans, chassis-cab models, and city transit buses. The Lightning products include best-of-class commercial EVs based on leading legacy platforms like the Ford Transit 350HD passenger and cargo vans, Ford E-450 shuttle bus and cutaway models, Ford F-59 step/food van, Ford F-550 cargo trucks and buses, Chevrolet 6500XD Low Cab Forward model, and 30-foot, 35-foot, and 40-foot transit buses.

Position Summary
This position will support the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager in the development, implementation, and maintenance of health and safety programs at Lightning eMotors.
Responsibilities
- Aid in writing and implementing health and safety programs and policies
- Conduct hazard assessments and implement corrective actions
- Conduct industrial hygiene and ergonomic assessments as needed
- Develop health and safety trainings and facilitate short trainings
- Aid in recordkeeping for training and incidents
- Other duties as assigned
Competencies
- Written Communication: Ability to communicate effectively in written form on a variety of platforms.
- Teamwork & Collaboration: You should be able to build collaborative relationships with colleagues at all levels of the company.
- Time management: Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, meet deadlines, remain organized, and focused on work in a manufacturing environment.
- Flexibility: You should be willing to learn new technologies; and both obtain and maintain technical certifications as needed. Reliability is key as the IT team is expected to work occasional evenings, weekend, after-hours, and on-call for scheduled and unscheduled events.
- Safety focused: You should keep safety in the forefront of your mind, demonstrating safe work practices and complying with safety procedures.
What we require: (education, experience, certifications)
- Currently enrolled in an educational program focused on occupational health and safety or similar area
What we prefer: (education, experience, certifications)
- Experience writing health and safety programs
- Experience conducting hazard and industrial hygiene assessments
- Working knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, DOT, EPA, and similar governing body standards
