Position: Environmental Health and Safety Engineer
Location: Pearl River Plant - Bay St. Louis, MS

The EH&S Engineer ensures compliance with all federal, state and local environmental and transportation regulations and is responsible for all aspects of the site environmental program and for implementation of internal environmental programs. This role will have safety responsibility as well as environmental.

Key Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to)
  • Develops and or implements safety and environmental programs for the Pearl River facility
  • Implement Calgon Carbon and Kuraray corporate safety and environmental requirements
  • Other EH&S projects to support the Pearl River facility or other Calgon Carbon location as assigned by the Director of EH&S
  • Oversees safety and environmental compliance for the Pearl River facility including day to day operations, incoming spent carbons, air permit, wastewater discharge and storm-water requirements. Responsible for OSHA process safety management standards. Participates in daily plant meetings, inspects the plant daily, provides environmental training to employees
  • Performs daily site inspections, interacts with employees, contractors and management to assure day to day operational safety. Supports an accident free culture. Performs Behavioral Based Safety Observations
  • Prepares all annual and periodic environmental reports for the Pearl River facility including but not limited to all SARA reporting, DMR, annual air permit certifications, deviation reports and others as required
  • Prepares permit renewal applications and modifications for air water and waste permits

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) or equivalent from a four-year college or university; Environmental sciences, engineering, chemistry or other technical discipline is preferred
  • 5-7 years Environmental Management experience
  • Preferred Experience: Air permitting, Emergency Response, ISO 14001, Landfill Operations, OSHA standards, Process safety management, RCRA - TSDF experience, Responsible Care, TSCA, Waste water and NPDES regulations

Hours of work: Mondays - Fridays, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, 40 Hrs/Wk (Work outside normal hours is to be expected. Must be available outside normal hours as needed)
Travel: 10-15% Occasional travel is required to attend company events or visit regulatory authorities. Participation in company events such as audits or conferences
