Health & Safety Specialist

We are looking for a Health & Safety Specialist to support our manufacturing operations in Rochester, NY as part of our WW Health, Safety and Environment Team.

As a Health & Safety Specialist you will support chemical, toner and film manufacturing. Responsibilities may include (but are not limited to) the following:
  • Industrial hygiene and safety consultations with manufacturing and research operations.
  • Oversight of numerous H&S programs including respiratory protection, hearing conservation, personal protective equipment, hazard communication, laser safety, ionizing radiation, Control of Hazardous Energy (LO/TO), electrical safety, machine guarding, fall protection, & confined space.
  • Coordination of the safety incident review process, review and analysis of data and identification of trends and improvement opportunities to prevent/reduce incidents.
  • Participation in Process Safety Reviews and job hazard analyses to identify/evaluate hazards and recommend controls.
  • Provide HSE training to employees
  • Conduct Health and Safety inspections to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and prevailing professional standards and practices
  • Provide technical guidance to management on a large variety of workplace Health and Safety issues

Requirements:
  • Relevant experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of Chemical manufacturing equipment and processes
  • Certified or in pursuit of certification as a Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Able to organize and coordinate multiple requirements/ projects/ processes simultaneously
  • Able to complete responsibilities in a timely, professional, and quality manner
  • Able to analyze complex problems; search out relevant information and gauge its importance when making decisions
  • Effective written and oral communication skills; able to express oneself clearly and in technical and non-technical terms
  • Excellent computer skills including Advanced Excel (macros, pivot tables & formulas)

Education and Experience:
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a chemical manufacturing environment
