We are seeking an experienced individual to work as a Biologist (Laboratory of Viral Diseases (LVD), DNA Tumor Virus Section) at the National Institutes of Health in Rockville, MD.

This is a long-term contract position which offers:

TASKS/SERVICES. The contractor shall:
  • Perform confocal microscopy, including combined immunofluorescence, RNA and DNA fluorescent in situ hybridization and live cell imaging techniques.
  • Perform scientific procedures such as cell culture and DNA, RNA and protein extraction to study processes related to the infectious cycle of persistent oncogenic DNA viruses.
  • Collect and organize data, perform data analysis, and prepare technical reports.
  • Maintain detailed records of experiments and their results and prepare the information resulting from these experiments for publication, and for presentations.
  • Perform, operate and communicate effectively in a group, team-oriented working environment.


REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have:
  • MD or Ph.D. in a related field is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a laboratory setting.
  • Experience and knowledge in confocal microscopy and related in situ techniques, particularly related to chromatin biology, the DNA damage response, DNA replication and transcription.
