Sr. Scientist, NGS/Applications (Molecular Biology)

Summary

We are looking for a passionate and driven Senior Scientist to join the NGS/Applications group. The Senior Scientist will work on development and optimization of assays and NGS technologies, as well as cross-functionally to solve multi-disciplinary challenges. The ideal candidate will have hands-on lab experience in molecular biology and NGS techniques and experience in working in cross-functional groups.

Job Description

• Independently lead, plan, design, coordinate and execute studies though all phase of the NGS development process
• Build cross-functional relationships to effectively solve multi-disciplinary challenges
• Own the implementation of assays and collaborate cross functionally to develop and improve essential workflows
• Identify problems, investigate alternatives and recommend possible courses of action
• Develop exceptional written experimental designs, and detailed protocols
• Maintain a detailed lab notebook, develops and assists with production of SOPs
• Present results/outputs and contributes ideas to improve team processes
• Provide technical mentorship for junior team members

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or closely related field with 3+ years or relevant industry experience or MS with +9 years of relevant industry experience
• Strong technical background in molecular biology and NGS
• Extensive hands-on experience in NGS based assay development including sample preparation, library preparation, sequencing
• Experience with protein purification techniques highly desirable
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, and ability to work effectively cross-functionally
• Versatility, flexibility, proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to interpret, troubleshoot, and optimize experimental parameters
• Team player with excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and cooperatively within a fast-paced team environment.

Highly Desirable

• Technical team and/or project leadership experience
• Experience with customer interfacing
• Single cell technologies, working with biological samples
• Experience with working in cross-functional teams
• Experience with liquid handlers
