Role Responsibilities:
Requirements:
- Work closely with the production leadership team to identify opportunities for scaling and expanding cell biology production process by addressing rate limiting steps through improved protocol development.
- Identify ways to improve process efficiency and collaborate with development teams to transfer new technologies to the gene editing production pipeline.
- Help design, validate, and implement automated process leading to the reduction of manual cell line handling.
- Capable of troubleshooting tissue culture related procedures, identifying process gaps and participating in all steps of standard operating procedure development.
- Interrogating Cell biology production metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
- Screening of new varieties in preproduction runs to determine the conditions to move them forward to the production team
- Develop or enable methods to improve cell division, micro callus formation, callus growth and sampling efficiency
- Evaluate RTDS reagents for new and existing gene targets
- Provide leadership through direct and indirect influence, training, and coaching of team members within the organizational structure.
- Training of Tech Transfer team and preparation/updating of SOPs. Training production team(s) on validated methods.
- Enable success of up- and down- stream activities in gene editing production system through cross-functional, matrixed collaboration.
Requirements:
- The candidate must have good theoretical and working knowledge of cell biology, preferably plant cell biology and tissue culture techniques.
- Experience with plant cell/tissue culture methods, as well as shoot regeneration through somatic embryogenesis and organogenesis
- Experience with laboratory information management systems, inventory management and database development.
- Leads by example and willing to work side-by-side with reports while using positive strategies to establish a professional environment of trust, respect, and collaboration.
