*Summary of Duties: *
Under general supervision, perform simple, routine, and qualitative clinical laboratory assays, sample processing, data entry, media preparation, and other laboratory work in support of microbiologists and faculty in relation to a US Fish & Wildlife Services contract. Eligibility and understanding of BSL-2 laboratory safety guidelines and work environment is required.

*Required Qualifications:*

* Completion of an approved course* for laboratory assistants OR two years of chemical, or clinical or public health laboratory experience. Training in medical technology or education in college with courses in laboratory sciences may be substituted, year for year, for experience. *Course approved by American Society of Clinical Pathologists.

* Ability to work weekends and/or holidays during high volume testing periods.

*Preferred Qualifications:*

* Education to include at least 20 semester credit hours or 30 quarter credit hours in microbiology, molecular biology or virology.

* Work experience reading and using light microscopy, fish tissue processing, and using laboratory SOP's.

*This is a project position.
Temporary End Date:* This is a project position expected to end on *June 15, 2023*. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.
