New College of Florida invites applicants for a recurring, non-tenure track, 9-month Instructor in Biology position starting in August 2022.  New College of Florida is committed to creating an environment that is diverse, equitable, inclusive, respectful of difference and where all members of our community can experience a sense of belonging both inside and outside of the classroom. Candidates who can contribute to this goal through their teaching and mentoring as well as candidates who are underrepresented in biology are particularly encouraged to apply.

The successful applicant will be an integral part of supporting the introductory biology curriculum, including teaching an introductory biology laboratory course. Depending on the needs of the biology program, the Instructor may contribute to the Foundations of Biology lecture sequence and/or offer other courses consistent with their expertise. Additional responsibilities include supervising student assistants, maintaining safety records, and preparing introductory biology laboratory materials. While research is not required, there may be opportunities for collaborations with faculty and students. New College is committed to recruiting and retaining a diverse faculty.

Minimum qualifications are an M.S. degree in Biology or a related field and 3 years of professional experience. The preferred qualification is a Ph.D. in Biology or a related field (e.g. Biology Education).

Situated on Sarasota Bay along the Gulf of Mexico, New College is the nationally recognized honors college of the State University System in Florida.
