Role Summary

The candidate will be in a role that will support discovery research by interfacing with Cancer Biology, Protein Engineering and Cell Engineering groups of Notch in Seattle. This individual will be responsible for advancing Notch's discovery pipeline by performing experiments within the cancer biology group while working closely with other members of the cell therapy team in Seattle.

About Notch (

Notch is an early-stage biotech company, working to maximize the benefit of cell therapies through a proprietary T cell-production platform which combines sophisticated product design with commercial-compatible processes to enhance patient outcomes. Notch's iPSC-based technology platform allows for precision control of notch signaling, which removes several critical limiting factors in the development of cell therapies, delivering the ability to design and manufacture a uniform and unlimited supply of therapeutic T cells.

Key responsibilities:

Develop and optimize cell-based assays to enable in-depth functional characterization for iPSC-derived CAR T cell candidates
  • Optimize multi-color flow cytometry panels for identifying different subsets of T-cells and their exhaustion profiles
  • Conduct in vitro functional assays including, cytotoxicity assays and cytokine measurements

Contribute to daily lab organization and operations and drive effective communication across the organization.
  • Support ordering, monitoring, and organizing inventory, equipment maintenance and calibration.
  • Support efforts to establish and maintain policies and procedures related to lab operations and biosafety.
  • Maintain electronic laboratory notebooks for proper documentation of all research activities.
  • Deliver reports, summaries, and presentations supporting experimental results.
  • Assist in writing and revising technical documents including lab SOPs, equipment protocols and reports.
  • Collaborate with cross-site teams to support integration of optimized protocols into the workflow.

Demonstrate continuous integrity, credibility, and positivity and motivate others to do the same.
  • Support implementation of new platform technologies to increase research capabilities, performing a key role in improving processes and procedures.

Other responsibilities as required

Role Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor or MSc in cell biology, molecular biology, immunology, bioengineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience developing and troubleshooting cell-based assays for immune cell functional profiling (killing assays, cytokine production, proliferation) is preferred
  • Extensive experience in long-term mammalian cell culture systems, including specialized expertise in T cell culture and characterization.
  • Experience with IncuCyte and platform is highly desirable
  • Hands-on experience with PSC differentiation to CD34+ hematopoietic progenitor cells or T cells is preferred, but not required
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Hands-on experience in multicolor flow cytometry, cell sorting and/or magnetic enrichment, ELISA, qPCR, multiplexed Luminex or MSD assays, in vitro cytotoxicity assays and other applicable techniques.
  • Knowledge of and experience with scRNAseq workflows preferred, but not required.

Desired Characteristics and Demonstrated Skills
  • Demonstrated ability and keen interest in modelling Notch's Core Values: Collaborative, Motivated, Ingenious
