Position Summary:This is a full-time, temporary position that will work a minimum of 30 hours/week, flexibility to increase to 40 hours/week, with some evenings and weekends. The Interprofessional Health Sciences Simulation Center is seeking applications for a Temporary Simulation Technician. Seeking dynamic individual with a healthcare, training, or technical support experience to provide healthcare simulation learning activities. Opportunity to work with university faculty and community partners to deliver clinical simulation and interprofessional learning opportunities for students and practicing professionals. In addition to helping design deliver and evaluate simulation activities, the incumbent schedules and maintains a high-fidelity simulation laboratory.

15 Simulation Supplies: Make simulation supplies available for faculty, students, and learners Assist with inventories Manage hazardous materials per established standards Coordinate with the SON Nursing Skills Center Manager and community partners Essential

30 Support Clinical Simulation Activities: Assist faculty and community partners to develop clinical simulation activities tailored to the varied specialty and target audiences Perform pre-simulation activities including assembling simulation learning materials, staging room(s), readying A/V equipment, manikin, and/or standardized patient Pre-brief students, learners, and faculty Operate computerized simulation manikins and record equipment during activities Provide support to faculty conducting simulation activities Assist faculty/educators in directing scenario activities in accordance with predetermined progression or script Assist in collecting performance rubric data and event logging Monitor learner and standardized patient safety Perform "on the fly" troubleshooting Assist faculty and educators in guiding learner reflection and debriefing following scenarios Distribute and manage recording of simulation actives Provide feedback and technical evaluation of simulation activities to faculty/educators Apply best practices, industry standards, and methods of healthcare simulation Essential

30 Support Training and Development of Employees, Students, and Community Members: Perform logistical functions to include registration and classroom/lab set-up Schedule and coordinate training sessions, workshops, seminars, conferences or meetings Conducting training using existing materials Assist faculty in delivering clinical activities Guide, advise, and orient faculty and participants Prepare and maintain training records Prepare and distribute materials used to conducting and/or facilitate training including guides, videos, and other materials Collect data by assessments, surveys, interviews, or other sources Provide individualized assistance to faculty and participants Monitor and ensure compliance with UA policies, state and federal laws, rules, regulations, requirements, and/or contract agreements Coordinate training/educational activities with faculty, community/professional partners, and other organizations Conduct public relations events and participate in community outreach activities Assist University Advancement in gifting efforts and patron recognition Essential

Position Summary:

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of training principles, equipment, and materials

Knowledge of course development methods, and techniques

Knowledge of healthcare simulation, human physiology, medical terminology, and healthcare services

Strong computer software skills

Simulation equipment and computer systems troubleshooting skills

Skilled in operating personal computers, audiovisual, and medical equipment

Effective written/verbal communication skills

Moulage skills

Ability to apply knowledge of healthcare simulation and training

Ability to interpret simulation and computer equipment configuration/structures

Ability to update/upgrade software, firmware, and hardware

Ability to help conduct classroom training, workshops, and/or seminars

Ability to lead students and staff in introductory (uncomplicated) training activities

Ability to gather information for course/training development and evaluation

Ability to communicate/network with outside organizations, staff, and professional groups

Ability to interact effectively with people of different cultures

Ability to support faculty from multiple departments, campuses, and institutions

Ability to take direction and work in a team setting

Ability to learn new software programs with minimal time investment

Experience:

One year experience on healthcare simulation and/or training.

Education/Training:

Associate's Degree in related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

One year in Information Technology or other related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred:

Current licensure or certification as nurse aid, medical assistant or educator or similar.

Certification as a Healthcare Simulation Operator (CHSO)

Hourly Rate: $20.47 per hour/minimum

Assignment Information:

Temporary, Non-Exempt (hourly), 30+ hours per week, and eligible for healthcare (30-day wait period from start date)

Conditions of Employment:
  • Available to work evenings and weekends.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. No work visas will be sponsored for this position.
