Job Title Research Technologist, Biology

Essential Functions

The Department of Biology at the University of Nebraska at Omaha seeks a full-time research technologist to support biomedical research in the Blankenship Fungal Genetics Lab. The lab studies pathogenesis and antifungal drug sensitivity in the human pathogenic fungus Candida albicans using genetics, microscopy, and animal models of infection . This position will work closely with the lab head and members of the lab to drive the research foci of the group.

This position will be responsible for supporting and conducting research under the direction of the lab head, in collaboration with other members of the Blankenship lab. Additional responsibilities include maintaining lab organization, lab stocks, and equipment, ordering, and student training. Biosafety level 1 practices are key to the research and training in those practices will be be provided.

Work Schedule M-F 8am -5pm, on campus. This position is 100% in person.

Additional Duties

The position may also assist in the preparation and delivery of an upper-level lab course delivered by the lab head, generally in the fall semester. Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills are required for this position. The ideal candidate will maintain accurate and organized records and maintain a professional and supportive relationship with other lab members and outside vendors. The ability to utilize a variety of computer services and programs (e.g. website maintenance, cloud services, Microsoft Office products) is highly desirable. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

BS in Biology or related field and two years with molecular biology experience research and writing.

Preferred Qualifications

MS in Biology or related field with four years of molecular biology experience research and writing, and experience in a technician position.

Will consider and equivalent combination of education and experience.
