JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a Scientist to assist with IconOVir's discovery and development efforts to develop novel anti-cancer viruses that exploit tumor-specific biology. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and validation of cell and molecular assays to screen therapeutic virus candidates for their anti-tumor activity and to validate their mechanism(s) of action

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working with the Discovery and Translational Research teams, support and lead projects to design and screen therapeutic candidates to feed the drug pipeline
  • Culture and perform assays using primary normal cells and tumor cells including patient-derived cells and established cell lines
  • Perform and optimize molecular and cell-based assays that may include qPCR, ELISA, metabolic and cytotoxicity assays, fluorescence-based assays, cell imaging assays, viral replication assays, and flow cytometry
  • Successfully execute and document laboratory procedures and experiments with great attention to detail
  • Analyze and interpret data, prepare summary tables and review raw data
  • Supervise and train analysts and junior scientists and troubleshoot assays
  • Manage material, equipment, and instrumentation, and keep accurate inventories of supplies for laboratory; forecast future needs based on projections
  • Write SOPs, study plans, and reports
  • Work closely with, and present data to, cross-functional teams to advance pipeline development
  • Keep up to date with the literature in the field


ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Master's degree with a minimum of 4 years of industry experience required or a PhD
  • The ideal candidate will have a molecular oncology and/or virology background
  • Hands-on experience with developing and validating cell-based assays to assess the therapeutic activity and mechanism of action of therapeutic candidates
  • Willingness to learn and develop new assays as needed
  • Experience in biologics research (protein therapeutics, small molecules, or oncolytic viruses)
  • Experience with maintaining electronic lab notebooks and appropriate documentation
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, effective communication, and demonstrated ability to work well and influence functional teams
