RESEARCH SCIENTIST - CANCER BIOLOGY
SAN DIEGO, CA
**Good understanding of Cancer Biology to participate in Drug Discovery Research.
Required Skills: PhD degree with 0 -3 years' experience in Molecular and Cell Biology, preferably in oncology and/or protein homeostasis, or M.S. degree with a minimum of 2 years, BSc with a minimum of 4 years of experience in developing cell-based assays in biopharmaceutical industry.
Excellent knowledge and extensive experience in cancer research with strong training in molecular and cell biology
Previous hands-on experience in various cell-based assays including, but not limited to viral transduction, Western blotting, proliferation, apoptosis, cell cycle analysis, FACS, ELISA, and quantitative PCR.
Capability to deliver high quality data in an organized and timely manner.
Proficiency in scientific data analysis programs including Microsoft Excel, GraphPad Prism, FlowJo.
Effective communication and excellent presentation skills in internal meetings and external settings.
Experience in high-throughput screen, automation and bioinformatic analysis on a wide array of molecular profiling platforms is preferred.
Project Description: The Discovery Biology Group in The Oncogenesis TRC focuses on delivering novel cancer therapeutics by targeting E3 ubiquitin ligases for selective protein degradation.
We are seeking a motivated Scientist with experience and understanding of cancer biology to participate in drug discovery research.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment to:
Develop and implement robust cellular assays to support discovery of novel molecules as clinical development candidates.
Design and execute in vitro studies that further our understanding of the mechanisms of therapeutic compounds.
The successful candidate will work with discovery project teams and scientists across different functional areas and would be expected to present his or her work at project team meetings.
Design and develop high-throughput screens to uncover molecules as clinical development candidates for targeted protein degradation.
Develop and implement cell-based assays to support target identification, validation, and drug development.
Characterization of MOA, exploration of resistance/synthetic lethality mechanisms, nominate combination therapy and patient stratification strategies to improve clinical outcome.
Analyze and present data in an organized and timely manner.
This 12+ month position starts ASAP.
