Role Purpose

We are seeking candidates with strong consulting and/or power & renewables industry experience to join our growing Americas Power & Renewables Consulting practice. Our team serves a range of energy sector and financials clients in a variety of strategic/commercial consulting projects. You will be working at the leading edge of industry trends, working with world-class clients as they adapt to the energy transition. You will be working alongside talented colleagues and subject matter experts and contributing to Wood Mackenzie's mission of ‘transforming the way we power our planet.'

We are looking for candidates with a range of experience levels, including consultants, project managers and business developers. The roles require communication and presentation skills, combined with analytical and problem-solving abilities, creative thinking, and willingness to learn. Working closely with internal project teams and client teams also requires strong interpersonal and collaboration and teamwork skills.

You will sit within the Power & Renewables consulting team supporting a broad range of projects which could include strategy development, transaction support, commercial due diligence, project development or finance, government policy advisory, market screening, and pricing and competitiveness analysis. Projects in the practice area cover a range of areas including power markets, wind, solar, storage, renewables supply chain, and broader energy transition topics. You will regularly be working cross-sector and engaging with colleagues in consulting and research from across the regional and global organization. The candidates will frequently work alongside senior client teams as they engage with our Americas and global customers.

Main Responsibilities

As a member of the Americas Power & Renewables Consulting team at Wood Mackenzie you will have a role in the successful delivery of consulting projects. Your role within the team will be matched with your experience, skill level and interest

All Team Members Will
  • Understand the basics of the US power markets and power market trends and dynamics. Awareness, understanding and experience in power and renewables technologies is a pre-requisite
  • Be able to effectively discuss recent events and implications with clients and colleagues
  • Focus on effectively solving our clients' issues and needs, and ability to communicate clearly to a senior client audience and internal stakeholders
  • Work to build our broader practice, including training, coaching, and mentoring others in the team, supporting offering development, and contributing to thought leadership
Team Leaders, Business Developers And Project Directors Will
  • Lead and support key business development activities for consulting solutions by targeting C-level clients, relationship building, proposing services, and closing opportunities
  • Build, nurture and lead client relationships from business development through project delivery stage
  • Provide subject matter expertise in areas of the power and renewables sector and lead the team's delivery of analytical, modeling, written, or slide presentation outputs
  • Manage executive-level client communications, including presentations, workshops, and discussions with management teams or other stakeholders
  • Identify business development of follow-on work opportunities and lead new project scoping, lead discussions and proposal development and pitching
  • Generate innovative ideas and approaches to industry issues and participate in the development of new offerings
Project Managers Will
  • Develop effective work plans and organize resources for the projects
  • Provide clear, focused support and expertise to your team in structuring and solving problems
  • Manage workload while coaching team members to ensure successful, timely and quality deliverables
  • Support lead conversion and proposal development
  • Research the client organization and industry, conducting interviews, and facilitating workshops with client employees, management teams and other stakeholders
Qualifications

Knowledge, Experience and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant discipline such as engineering or finance, valuation and/or financial analysis, power or renewables technologies; master's and/or MBA preferred
  • Previous experience (5+ years) at a consulting firm covering aspects such as conducting research, delivering analysis and insights, data analysis project and client management, commercial / financial modelling, proposal development, and internal team development
  • Other experience such as working within the energy industry (including utilities, developers, OEMs, industry bodies, ISOs, etc.), banking, or other such analytical role at a renowned company within the energy industry would also be considered
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills
  • Distinctive entrepreneurial mind set
  • Fluency in English is mandatory
