Responsibilities :
Overall Function EDF+Business has been working with the private sector to address the world's most pressing environmental problems for over thirty years. The products we buy every day-from the food we eat to the beauty products we use-are an integral part of the global economy, but their production creates major climate, water and health impacts throughout the supply chain. The EDF+Business Resilient Food and Forest team aims to reduce these impacts by working with the food and agriculture sectors to enact change through their supply chains. We do this through high-impact partnerships with companies such as Walmart and Tyson Foods; bipartisan policy advocacy; and smart communications strategies to disseminate best practices. The Project Manager(s) will be responsible for managing our corporate engagements across the livestock sector, with one new hire designated for the U.S. dairy industry and one designated for the U.S. beef industry. The Project Manager(s) will manage strategic relationships and collaborations within the sector, including managing multiple projects, working with multiple teams, and managing external partners as well as careful coordination of science, policy, economics, business, and communications. The Project Manager should understand the strategic vision of the team and be able to step in as needed to develop new relationships and lead emerging work streams. Key Responsibilities Under direction from the Director and Manager, develop and implement the U.S. dairy or U.S. beef industry engagement work plan. Coordinate U.S.-based projects with key corporate partners. Project manage the Resilient Food and Forest team's medium and light touch engagement strategy with companies, including bringing lessons learned from current partnerships and ongoing thought leadership to create effective strategic communications and push the entire industry to improve.As new partnerships are developed with livestock companies, manage those projects to deliver results. Participate as a core member of the Resilient Food and Forest team, and bring lessons learned from the dairy work to support the broader team goals and priorities.Build relationships external to EDF that help establish the Resilient Food and Forest team as an expert and leader in the sustainable agriculture sector, including attending conferences and making presentations to small groups.Support the team in occasional project development and data analysis needs. Participate in a matrixed team of business, economics, science, and policy actors across EDF. Participate in advancing EDF DEI goals in which people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address the environmental and organizational challenges in alignment with EDF values.QualificationsBachelor's degree and at least four years of relevant work experience, or Master's degree and at least two years of relevant experience. Strong oral and written communication skills.Strong project management skills. Prior experience working with or advocating to food and agriculture companies. Knowledge of major trends and challenges to implementing sustainability in agricultural/dairy supply chains. Ability to translate scientific and technical concepts for private sector audiences.Demonstrated capacity to bring constituents together toward a common goal, build strategic relationships, and successfully advocate for environmental issues. Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, both independently and as a member of teams in a dynamic and creative environment.Ability to verbally and orally articulate and advocate for programmatic priorities among small groups and in formal presentations.Demonstrates self-awareness, cultural competency and inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across diverse cultures and backgrounds.Ability to travel up to 20% of the time (post-COVID).Ability to work with remote Manager located in a different time zone.
