Senior Research Associate - Biology

Protego Biopharma is a fast-growing company focusing on R&D of small molecule therapeutics targeting protein misfolding diseases. We are seeking a highly motivated and goal-oriented individual to join our team. This role requires significant hands-on experience in biochemical and cell-based assay, with a focus on small molecule drug discovery and translation research. This position will be in San Diego, California. On-site work is required.

Key responsibilities
  • Be an active participant in a vibrant, multidisciplinary drug discovery team
  • Design and execute experiments with supervision. Use a variety of techniques such as cell culture, cell biology, molecular biology, and protein biochemistry to help assay development
  • Analyze and interpret experimental results and draft protocols, SOPs, technical reports, etc., with supervision
  • Demonstrate the ability to interface effectively and positively with all levels of colleagues in research and non-clinical functions
  • Present scientific findings in groups and project teams
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of experiments performed
  • Generating data for research and serving as co-author on manuscripts published in peer-reviewed journals


?Requirements
  • Master's degree in Life Sciences with 2 or more years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences with 4 or more years of relevant experience
  • At least 2-year experience conducting benchwork in a lab is required
  • Experience in cell culture, molecular biology, and biochemistry is required and essential
  • Experience in the high-throughput screen, including but not limited to FLIPR and high-content imaging are preferred
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks
  • Can work independently (as well as on a team) and have strong oral/written communication skills
