Position Summary

Plans, directs, and implements All Recycling's environmental, health and safety program to ensure a safe, healthy, compliant and accident-free work environment. Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations for All Recycling, All Recycling North, and All Recycling Brighton.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Plans and implements environmental and safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal (OSHA & EPA) rules and regulations.
  • Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in worksite safety practices, fire prevention, and environmental compliance.
  • Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accidents, health and environmental hazards; determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.
  • Leads the investigation of all accidents and injuries; prepares materials and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations when necessary.
  • Oversees the administration of workers' compensation program, including working with the insurance carrier to reduce employee lost time.
  • Responsible for managing the following permits and programs:
  • Safety Program for all facilities
  • NPDES Industrial Storm Water Permits for All Recycling, All Recycling North, and All Recycling Brighton and associated Storm Water Management Plans.
  • All Recycling Air Permit and Emissions Control Plan
  • All Recycling Environmental Covenant and Soil Management Plan
  • SPCC Plan for All Recycling, All Recycling North, and All Recycling Brighton
  • Conduct waste determinations and waste profiles. Manage hazardous waste and required manifest recordkeeping. Complete required hazardous waste reporting, if applicable. Ensure that hazardous and non-hazardous waste is properly stored, labeled and disposed.
  • Frequent travel between facilities using personal vehicle is required. Occasional travel to customer facilities, meetings, etc. using personal vehicle is required. Must have a valid driver's license, good driving record, and maintain personal auto insurance in accordance with company requirements.
  • Adept in identifying, assessing, and reducing the Company's environmental and safety risks and financial costs.
  • Work with legal counsel and seek legal guidance, as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain budgets for costs associated with Environmental, Health and Safety compliance including contractor and consultant management.
  • Maintain environmental and safety files and records.
  • Manager direct reports, approve time and attendance in payroll system.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • Bachelor of Science in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or other closely related fields of study.
  • Minimum of 5 years industrial EHS compliance experience required.
  • This position requires the person to be on call in case of emergencies.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl for periods longer than 2 hours; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. May be required to travel to other buildings on the premises which consist of multiple levels containing ladders, steep inclines, and stairs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to outdoor sites requiring PPE, a high trafficked environment consisting of pedestrians, moving heavy equipment, tractor-trailers, and standard vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, in some instances, this job may require work in areas where ear protection is necessary.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $70,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
