Job Overview:

APTIM Environmental & Infrastructure, LLC is seeking a junior level environmental Scientist on a full-time basis in the Canton, MA area to participate in a variety of environmental support tasks such as investigation/remediation, hazardous waste, hazardous materials, aboveground storage tanks, underground storage tanks, spill prevention, air quality, environmental due diligence, water conservation/sustainability, and energy solutions/sustainability. The position will require travel to client facilities approximately 50% of the time to conduct environmental compliance reviews and/or gather related data; this travel will primarily be regional in nature.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Executing various work scopes, while meeting project schedules and budgets
  • Work independently and as part of a project team and be able to adjust to changing conditions
  • Interface with client personnel at a corporate and facility level
  • Time management to ensure a quality product is prepared to meet project deadlines
  • Apply knowledge and skills to a wide range of standard and nonstandard situations
  • Implementing written work scopes to performing environmental sampling of soil, groundwater, air and sediment
  • Oversee subcontractors performing environmental drilling and other investigation/remediation related tasks.
  • Implement and monitor environmental compliance programs working closely with other compliance specialists to support compliance programs. Programs may include, but are not limited to, investigation/remediation, stormwater, wastewater, hazardous materials, hazardous waste, air quality, above and/or below ground storage tanks, environmental due diligence, and other associated programs.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or related scientific field required.
  • 40-Hour OHSA HAZWOPER Training.
  • Two to three years' experience required in the environmental field including direct experience with at least one of the following regulatory programs: investigation/remediation, stormwater, wastewater, hazardous materials, hazardous waste, air quality, aboveground and below ground storage tanks, environmental due diligence, water conservation/sustainability, energy solutions/sustainability, and/or other associated programs (e.g. RCRA, CERCLA, DOT, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Federal and State environmental regulations related to the above referenced programs
  • Experience overseeing environmental drilling activities required
  • Experience collecting groundwater, soil, air and sediment samples.
  • Some overtime and weekend work will be required to meet project deadlines.
  • Capable of starting work as early as 5:30 am, and working on select weekends and some holidays.
  • Must possess and maintain valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to work independently on hazardous waste sites and meet the 40-hour OSHA physical requirements (includes wearing PPE and a full-face respirator).
  • Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications.
  • Verbal and written communication skills necessary to explain complex and/or confidential information.
  • Time management and organizational skills necessary to manage multiple projects, appropriately prioritize workload, plan for resources to meet deadlines and goals, and respond to day-to-day functional needs.
  • Ability to anticipate and identify problems and use sound judgment and fact-based analysis to develop effective and efficient solutions.
  • Knowledge of concepts, practices, policies, and procedures used in field operations
