Job Summary:

The purpose of this role is to act as Cocoa Assurance and Data steward. The outputs of this job vouch for the validity, integrity and safety of data collected and stored. This role directly contributes to credibility and assurance of internal and external claims regarding Cocoa For Good.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Assurance strategy and deployment. Take a lead role in building the cocoa assurance strategy, develop and safeguard assurance standards and procedures. This position will primarily oversee third-party assurance engagements over a wide range of ESG metrics and processes across all cocoa sourcing; and also includes ownership of the third-party impact reports commissioned to third parties.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key business decision makers to communicate value of Cocoa Assurance and Data stewardship. Provide guidance and expertise in the delivery of our climate change and sustainability commitments.
  • People management. Develop people by encouraging individuals to think for themselves and take responsibility for their contributions to the team. Conduct performance reviews, serve as a positive role model and mentor, and contribute to performance feedback/training. Foster teamwork and lead by example.
  • MEL system management. Lead the development of the Theory of Change and logical framework. Putting in place a comprehensive M&E plan and establish a data collection and maintenance process
  • Suppliers. Design an analysis and reporting system to enable supplier benchmarking and support data driven decision making and support supplier sustainability performance management.
  • External representation. Liaise with external cocoa sustainability program evaluators and assessors. Act as subject matter expert on designated topical areas, such as Cocoa and Forests Initiative, WCF Pathway to Sustainability, Living Income and/or others as seen fit
  • Data driven insights. Use and translate information based on research results and relevant secondary sustainability information into insights and actionable recommendations
  • Lead reporting exercises such as Hershey's Sustainability Reports, CFI reports, WCF MEL reporting, ICI reporting and internal presentations. As well as be the go-to resource for response to planned and ad hoc activist/journalist requests
  • Forest. Manage GIS-related data and perform analyses on consistency, compliance, and deforestation.


Qualifications:
  • Ability to synthesize and clearly communicate highly complex findings to focus on critical issues and actionable opportunities
  • Experience with program monitoring and evaluation (M&E) in a developing country setting
  • Familiarity with knowledge management principles and approaches, tools and geospatial data
  • Experience using software packages and Business Intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau, ...)
  • 2-5 years of up-country work experience in cocoa, farmer groups, certification and auditing environment and forests and community development is a plus
  • Fluent spoken and written French and English
  • Background in working with a multi-cultural team across time zones
  • Proven ability to work independently as a contractor, a self-starter attitude, active learner
  • Attention to details, high analysis skills and strategic thinking capabilities
