POSITION: Research Associate - Biology/Neuroscience

Duration: 12 months (Extendable)

Location: San Diego, CA

Typical Hours: Mon-Fri 8am-5pm

Job Description:

We are seeking an initial 12-month contract for a Research Associate position. The successful candidate will be skilled in the art of cell and protein detection and analysis and familiar with analytical technologies such as flow cytometry and must be comfortable with assay development, troubleshooting experimental procedures, and data analysis. Good communication skills and strong teamwork spirit are required.

Job Responsibilities

The primary roles are to operate laboratory equipment, prepare materials, perform experimental procedures, record and consolidate research data, and execute planned research activities using analytical techniques. The specific function includes isolation, detection, and quantification of targets of interest in cells and tissues. He/she will need to optimize detection conditions for various protein targets of interest in cells and perform measurement and quantification.

Qualifications

B.S. or M.S. in biology/biochemistry/neuroscience with 2+ years of academic or industrial experience. A strong commitment to experimental work and knowledge of the drug discovery process.

Experience with cell and protein analysis methods including flow cytometry and western blot analysis is preferred.

Experience with cell handling and staining.

The candidate must have strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a highly matrixed team-oriented environment.

Strong written and oral communication skills, with the desire to present scientific findings and data to broader teams. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and GraphPad Prism is required.
