- Under the direction of the Head of Regional Quality & EHS this position will lead the EHS functions in NA sites by providing broad-based support for all key EHS activities and initiatives. This includes EHS Systems, Continuous improvement projects, EHS auditing, compliance with all Regional and Global procedures.
- Implements and maintains company policies adhering to local, state, and federal environmental, health and safety regulations.
- Establish and provide a regulatory training program on OSHA (29 CFR 511 GI and others) and EPA (40 CFR CWA, CAA, RCRA, Stormwater) for all levels in the US organization.
- Interface with all departments to implement GSR, environmental, health, and safety policies, regulations, and programs based on Zeiss global directive, federal or local guidelines and requirements based on OSHA (29 CFR 511 GI and others) and EPA (40 CFR CWA, CAA, RCRA, Stormwater).
- Support actively reduction of waste streams and incident within the regional organization.
- Implement KPIs for review of regulatory performance based on Zeiss global requirements.
- Involved in the facilities expansions, work areas and work procedures and makes environmental, health and safety recommendations accordingly.
- Responsible for preparing, maintaining, and updating environmental policy and procedure manuals.
- Responsible for performing JHA and risk assessment report.
- Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization.
- Serves as contact with all EHS federal, state, and local regulatory bodies
- Ensure that company policies adhere to local, state, and federal regulations.
- Train and oversee employees on EHS regulations
- Ensure all the registration and permits are updated and submitted on time.
- Monitor exposure to certain hazardous chemicals
- Provide technical expertise for OSHA regulation implementation, emergency response, accident investigations, hygiene, ergonomics, track the number of incidents and reports to management.
- Conduct training and document procedures for improving health and safety.
- Conduct EHS audits and inspect workplace
Job Requirements
- Bachelors or technical degree in engineering or technology discipline with accredited programs in Environmental and Health & Safety.
- 4+ years of experience working in a regulated industry.
- Must be able to communicate internally and externally with the regulatory bodies.
- Must be a self-motivated individual with good organizational skills that can prioritize work depending on importance.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint Presentation)
- English speaking and writing.
- Flexibility to travel up to 20% of the time.
