Job Description

VERTEX is a rapidly growing, multi-national consulting firm that is experiencing exponential growth, and we are looking to augment our team of talented individuals. The staff-level individual we are looking for will enjoy the challenge of working on multiple projects on a fast-paced schedule, working with project and senior staff to assess sites across the country, and providing field oversight and technical support on a variety of projects. More specific details are described below.

Core Responsibilities

Conduct multi-phase and multi-parameter field investigation and remediation activities

Collect soil, groundwater, soil gas and indoor air samples

Tabulate and analyze laboratory and engineering data

Oversee and monitor site work during construction

Prepare regulatory and summary reports for senior review

Coordinate and oversee subcontractor activities

Conduct Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments

Prepare and implement Health and Safety Plans

Skills & Abilities

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Ability to work with moderate oversight and take direction from senior managers

MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

Proficiency or working knowledge with QUIRE, AutoCAD, TurboCAD, and/or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) programs a plus

Ability to walk job sites during inspections, sometimes on uneven terrain

Ability to carry field testing equipment (up to 30 pounds) onto job sites with regularity

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related environmental field

2+ years of professional experience in environmental assessment/remediation activities, including Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, Phase II Subsurface Investigations, report writing, and field investigation/remediation

Ability/willingness to travel frequently for field work (valid driver's license and reliable vehicle required)

Familiarity with the Massachusetts Contingency Plan (MCP) is a plus

Position requires Health & Safety Certification pursuant to OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 (HAZWOPER 40 Hour), will provide training if needed
