The Opportunity
In anticipation of the Company's growth plans, Denali Therapeutics is seeking an Associate Scientist focusing on drug discovery research and mechanistic biology related to neurodegenerative diseases. Reporting to a Senior Scientist, you will perform translational research, with a focus on developing and validating biochemical and cell-based assays to explore mechanisms of neurodegeneration and support therapeutic development.

Basic Qualifications
Master's degree and 1+ year of industry experience

Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of industry experience

Responsibilities
- Perform research in a dynamic and collaborative environment
- Design and implement experiments to investigate disease mechanisms and support drug candidate selection
- Evaluate therapeutic candidates using biochemical assays, cell-based assays, and in vivo studies
- Make detailed scientific observations, analyze data, interpret, and present results
- Collaborate with colleagues in Biology Discovery, Medicinal Chemistry, Protein Sciences, Pharmacology, DMPK, Project Management, CMC, Toxicology, Early Development and Clinical Sciences to develop innovative research and develop novel drugs
Basic Qualifications
Master's degree and 1+ year of industry experience
OR
Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of industry experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Biochemistry, Cell Biology or Neurobiology
- Proficiency in a broad range of biochemical, molecular, and cellular techniques including Western blotting, qPCR, transfection, RNA interference, immunofluorescence and/or live imaging techniques, immunohistochemistry, and quantitative image analysis
- Expertise in the culture of mammalian cell lines, primary cells, and/or iPSC-derived CNS cells
- Experience in the field of membrane trafficking, membrane biology or lipid metabolism/transport
- Highly organized with excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
- Strong oral/written communication skills
- Creative and inquisitive thinker who is eager to explore and learn new skills
