Job Description
We are seeking a Research Scientist II, Cell Biology - RNA, with in-depth experience in Cell Biology to join Drug Discovery Sciences (DDS) department at Takeda San Diego. You will generate and characterize various mammalian cell lines using subcloning and CRISPR and optimize cellular assays for drug target validation, compound triage, characterization and SAR. The successful applicant should have extensive bench research experience and enjoy a laboratory-focused role in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team setting.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
Generate luminescence-based/fluorescence-based mammalian reporter assays (endogenous reporter, minigene reporter, overexpression system, gene KO system) using transient transfection/stable transduction Develop and optimize cellular assays using biochemical or imaging-based readouts in a low, medium, or high throughput format for target validation and hit characterization Generate, analyze, and interpret data in appropriate scientific context, and present data in group meetings, department meetings, and project team meetings Regularly document experimental results in electronic notebooks Initiates and leads external interactions and collaborations Frequent contact with internal and external personnel at various management levels Collaborates with other departments, and disciplines, acting as scientific authority within
discipline Serves as senior company / project representative at external conferences, or business meetings
EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Ph.D. in Cell/Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related field with 1-3 years, MS with 4-6+, or BS with 6-8+ years of drug discovery experience in industry setting. Extensive experience with mammalian cellular assay development and characterization (siRNA, ASO, cDNA transfection & virus transduction, luciferase-based readout) is required. Ability to run WB, HTRF, and ELISA for target validation/characterization is required. Experience with high throughput assays and compound testing is strongly preferred. Experience with iPSC differentiation is highly desired. Must demonstrate the ability to design, execute experiments and troubleshoot independently. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team setting are required.
