POSITION TITLE: Environmental Health & Safety Specialist
DEPT/LOCATION: Northeast > Boston > EHS Department
DIRECT REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Director, Environmental Health & Safety
MAJOR FUNCTION:
Our EHS Specialist will champion our national injury prevention initiatives in the Northeast region and is responsible for administering, coordinating, and measuring the results of our risk management programs, and other policies impacting the environmental health and safety of our workforce, tenants, and clients. The Individual will identify, evaluate, and analyze work environments to mitigate risks and manage programs and procedures that eliminate or control workplace hazards. Will develop and conduct safety training for front-line employees and perform observations to reinforce positive behaviors and correct at-risk behaviors. An ideal candidate will have experience in facilities management, especially in trades such as engineering, mechanical and janitorial.
Job Responsibilities:
• Develop and deliver employee training and awareness programs.
• Develop, implement and coordinate EHS programs.
• Ensure that UG2 EHS programs are fully implemented at all sites.
• Work with operations to ensure all work-related injuries and accidents are properly investigated, root causes are identified, corrective actions are taken, and lessons learned are shared.
• Ability to establish and lead internal audits of the safety program to evaluate conformance with and effectiveness of the health and safety processes and procedures
• Work with claim management and operations to ensure that all Worker's Compensation claims are filed timely.
• Work with operations managers to facilitate safety orientation for new sites or new employees.
• Conduct training to keep department personnel informed on procedures, methods, use of equipment and other quality control techniques. Through directly maintaining satisfaction of the department's requirements in the areas of staffing, orientation, communications and compliance with company policies and related regulations.
• Manage data applicable to risk management performance at a regional level. Data may include Key Performance Indicators, Total Recordable Incident Rates and Days Away to name a few.
• Assist with oversight of UG2's corporate Fleet Management Program.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
• No direct reports.
Requirements (Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Education and/or Experience:
• BA/BS in Safety, Engineering or related sciences preferred;
• Subject matter expertise in relevant local, state and federal EHS regulations;
• 2+ years of occupational HSE work experience, with experience in a management role overseeing multiple sites;
• 2+ years of familiarity with trades ranging from janitorial, electrical and hvac.
• Knowledge of risk recognition, assessment and control techniques;
• Effective communication and computer skills including verbal and writing reports. Use of Microsoft office;
• Experience in program and policy development related to pathogens a plus;
• Conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills to enable the identification of issues and making sound decisions to determine appropriate courses of action for achieving long-range organizational goals;
• Spanish language preferred but not required.
Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements
• All travel within Northeast.
• Ability to climb ladders to access elevated areas. Able to lift 45 pounds of weight.
• Occasional work outside of normal 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. shift.
