Mathematica applies expertise at the intersection of data, methods, policy, and practice to address complex social challenges and improve well-being around the world. We create and use evidence to help our public and private sector partners improve programs, refine strategies, and advance knowledge. Over the past two decades, we have developed a large portfolio of international development work that spans more than 50 countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Europe. Our work provides actionable learning to guide decision-making and improve outcomes in a range of policy areas, including climate change, agriculture, energy, health, education, and workforce development.
A key strategic priority for Mathematica is to expand our research and influence on issues related to climate change. Mathematicas International Research Unit seeks a versatileResearcherto conduct evaluations and research projects focused on policies to mitigate or adapt toclimate changeand to contribute to efforts to expand Mathematicas portfolio in the climate change practice area.
We are particularly interested in candidates with research experience in climate finance; renewable energy; sustainable agriculture; natural resource management; sustainable development; and/or water, sanitation, and hygiene. Individuals who excel in this position have a passion for using data and evidence to drive social change, a talent for conceptual and strategic thinking, and an ability to produce high-quality work in a context of compressed timelines and changing circumstances.Position Requirements:Position Requirements:Knowledge and skills:Excellentquantitative and/or qualitative analytical skillsPolicy research experience in climate or environment, including related topics such as climate finance; renewable energy; sustainable agriculture; natural resource management; sustainable development; and water, sanitation, and hygieneStellar written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to (1) convey complex technical issues to non-expert audiences and (2) present and shareresearch results in a way that resonates with clients, practitioners, andpolicymakersAbility to travel internationallyAbility to work well in teamsFluency in at least one language in addition to English is preferredEducation and experience:PhD (or Masters degree with equivalent experience) in economics,environmental economics, public policy, international development, sustainabledevelopment, public health, or a related disciplineExperience managing or supporting research in LMIC settings is preferred

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of $90,000-$130,000. This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance.
