Staff Scientist - Technology Manager Biologist (Molecular Biologist/ Microbiologist)

A laboratory located in Arlington, Virginia is seeking a Staff Scientist. This position will be primarily responsible for advancements with CBRN detection technologies. Additionally, this position will work in coordination with MRIGlobal staff in the technical areas of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), safety, quality assurance, facilities management as well as inventory and equipment database management.

The position also involves directing staff analyzing samples in a 24/7/365 laboratory environment. The management of analytical staff will involve directing work assignments; ensuring staff have the necessary resources to accomplish their assigned tasks in addition to assisting with the professional growth and skill development of the staff.

The position involves the management of technical aspects of an ISO accredited, CBRN laboratory with established protocols. The ability to perform sample analysis as needed is required in addition to reviewing laboratory data for accuracy and preparing daily reports.

Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. preferred in specified study area or M.S. in specified study area plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in a laboratory environment with specific knowledge of CBRN detection technologies including the use of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
  • Experience and technical knowledge to support quality assurance activities including the development of SOPs, risk assessments, CAPAs
  • Technical knowledge to support biological safety training and biological safety laboratory facility activities
  • Experience working in a BSL-3 environment desired
  • Management of lab supply inventories and equipment maintenance
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with technical staff at all levels in a team-based environment
  • PC skills and ability to learn new software systems and help troubleshoot and maintain LIMS capabilities
  • Ability to work independently, effectively communicate and perform multiple tasks simultaneously, well organized, detail oriented and flexible to adjust to priorities
  • This will be a 1st shift position (8am-5pm) Monday to Friday subject to change depending on client's needs
  • Additional weekend and holiday work may be required
