OVERVIEW:This position will actively perform all testing needs for both routine and non-routine microbiological testing. Samples will be comprised of food and environmental matrixes. Testing being performed will require both qualitative and quantitative result interpretation.
NOTE: We have multiple positions and multiple shifts available.
Shifts: Tuesday-Saturday, Sunday-Thursday, 2:00pm-10:30pmRESPONSIBILITIES:

- Utilize PCR and ELISA instrumentation to analyze food and environmental samples
- Utilize conventional microbiological analyses to analyze food and environmental samples
- Utilize physiological and cultural characteristics to identify microorganisms
- Perform cultural confirmation for any detected pathogens
- Follow traceability requirements for documenting results in LIMS system
- Peer review results for accuracy and suitability
- Communicate and document inconsistencies with samples, instrumentation, or methodologies
- As needed, assist with method verification activities
- Ensure expected turnaround times are met, and communicate any potential delays
- Provide training for other laboratory staff
- Perform document review of SOP's
- Follow all written SOP's and Work Instructions guiding laboratory activities
- Assist in process improvement implementation
- Maintain laboratory instrumentation through maintenance
- Bachelor's Degree in related field, preferably Microbiology
- 2 years of laboratory experience involving food microbiology testing
- Ability to distinguish colors as required for Microbiological testing
- Troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Positive outlook with ability to adapt to changing circumstances
- Strong communication skills
- Punctual and Reliable in attendance
- Attention to detail
