Overview

Homology Medicines is seeking an innovative Computational Biology Scientist to join our Computational Biology Team. This key team member will be responsible for the analyses of cutting-edge genome editing therapeutics data, the development of innovative tools and analytics for NGS and for support of our drug development programs. This Computational Biology Scientist will also work with the bioinformatics infrastructure and analytical pipelines running on a high-performance computing environment. This collaborative team leader will be involved in all aspects of target discovery and validation including but not limited to strategy development and planning, tool development and execution of individual projects. In collaboration with scientific leaders, the Computational Biology Scientist will work with the genomics and other groups to accomplish goals and activities as part of a fundamentally important core and research capability, crucial for Homologys long-term strategy and success. This Computational Biology Scientist brings a high level of motivation in supporting and advancing novel analytical solutions in a new and burgeoning field; must be well organized, highly motivated, a team player, and be very flexible. This scientific leader is recognized by their colleagues for their high degree of innovation and brings a high level of enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced collaborative environment, with the goal of discovering and developing novel applications of our gene therapy platform to improve patients' lives.

Responsibilities

Analyze and interpret genome-scale NGS data (e.g., PacBio, Oxford Nanopore, Illumina) to enhance current programs and enable future discoveries. Co-design molecular genomics experiments and work collaboratively with wet lab scientists. Build and automate analysis workflows. Mentor junior team members.

Qualifications

PhD degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or related quantitative field, with at least 2 years of professional experience, or MS degree with 7 years of professional experience. Fluent in data analysis and visualization using Python or R. Thrives in a collaborative, team-based R&D environment. Team player. Skilled communicator (both oral and written). Proven use of innovative tools for custom problem solving. Exceptional interpersonal skills. Flexible to accommodate to rapidly changing priorities and deadlines.
