We are seeking a TS/SCI Poly security-cleared Senior Microbiologist to provide technical support in the execution and evaluation of research and development projects in Herndon, VA for our high-profile customer. You will be a member of a highly specialized team of scientific subject matter experts that address and assess highly technical programs for a government client. As a member of this team, you will develop, review, and enhance overall assessments or technical interpretations by evaluating the scientific literature, reviewing experimental research, and utilizing new technologies to enhance our client's mission capabilities through the elimination of knowledge gaps. Your team members are comprised of experts with direct experience in biodefense, bioinformatics, and microbial forensics. Your expertise in the biomedical sciences will address issues in diseases with pandemic potential, biosafety practices, microbial diagnostics, and pathogen biology. As a member of this team, your daily activities will include:Identify and monitor literature for emerging infectious disease with pandemic potentialReview biosafety practices and procedures from the open literatureProvide overall assessments and interpretation of biomedical information from a SME perspectiveReview and evaluate results from microbial diagnostics or assaysUtilize techniques to detect, characterize, and distinguish variants of infectious diseaseEnhance the client's mission capability in the biomedical sciences
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: A minimum of a M.S. degree in Epidemiology, Microbiology, Toxicology, Environmental Sciences, or related scientific field with 6+ years of experienceExperience with epidemiology or diseases with pandemic potentialMicrobial analysis and testing techniques5 years of experience in Microbiology or Clinical DiagnosticsThis position requires the candidate to have a current TS/SCI security clearance with a Polygraph to remain on the contract.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:PHD in Epidemiology, Microbiology, Toxicology, Environmental Sciences, or related scientific field with 3+ years of experienceKnowledge and skills to conduct epidemiology or disease pathology assessmentsExpertise with a broad range of laboratory or environmental bacteriology/virologyUnderstanding and evaluation of biosafety practicesKnowledge with the current use and application of microbial diagnostic technologiesKnowledge of bioinformatic analysis and interpretation of genomic analysisStrong communication skillsExcellent teamwork
