Job Summary

We are seeking an Operations Lead with experience in strain purification, curation, genomic DNA extraction and quantification. This role will oversee a team of research associates and technicians in our Gloucester, MA site to support the core research behind LifeMine's genomically-enabled drug discovery platform.

Job Responsibilities

• Fungal strain collection curation
• People management and development experience
• Fungal isolation, propagation, and purification
• DNA extraction, purification, and quantification
• Laboratory inventory management system input and maintenance
• Project planning, prioritization, and strong organizational skills

Job Requirements

• M.S. in biology, microbiology, mycology, or related field with 2 years of relevant experience or B.S. with 4 years of relevant experience
• Team management experience
• Previous experience in strain curation required
• Experience handling filamentous fungi is a plus
• Laboratory Information Systems and barcode implementation experience
• Working knowledge of -80C freezers, centrifuges, shaker incubators, autoclaves, and biosafety cabinets
• Experience with liquid handling robots (Agilent, Hamilton, Tecan) desirable
• Experience with streaking for microbes for pure isolates and use of dissecting and light microscopes
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task during daily routine
• A desire to be in a laboratory setting, a sense of engagement, and enthusiasm towards LifeMine's mission
